Once upon a time
We started designing the layout of our dream home in 2023. Designing your own home is not easy but after 6 months we ended up with a layout design of a 2 story, 3 bedrooms en-suite and a laundy/bonus room that could double as a 4th bedroom if necessary. An outdoor entertainment patio on the first floor because you; we enjoy hosting private parties for friends and family.
Renders from Architect Hillary
Once we were done with the layout and after having parted ways with 2 arhitects we found architect Hillary who provided us with architectual drawings and renders we really liked. (Fidelis liked Hillary's renders too because he did not hesitate to put his own watermark on Hillary's renders and posted them on his own website until he was caught by Anonymous.)
Structural Drawings, Building Permits.
Hillary connected us with a great Structural Engineer as well who converted everything to structural Drawings and provided the Blue Prints. We then submitted all the paperwork to obtain building permits and we were good to go.
Finding a Builder
We had seen numerous homes in Kenya that look great on the outside but the finishes on the inside are often poorly done, very dissapointing and do not match the quality of the exterior. Additionally we are very particular and besides good quality finishes we also wanted our home to be plumb, level and sqaure/straight. After extensive research and several interviews we were referred by Sam, the owner of Kingdom Precast to Fidelis Maiba from Batir Constructions LTD. Now; we are not blaming Sam for recommending Fidelis, it is entirely possible that Batir Constructions LTD initially built a few acceptable quality homes with nice finishing but .......well just continue reading the articles in our blog to find out all about how QS Fidelis, who promises to Make your Dream Project become a Reality, ended up almost killing our Dream Home in a Nightmare that is has yet to end..
